Julian Cassells
I was born in 1986, and live in Glencar, Co. Sligo.
I went to school in Dublin, to St. Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired and to Pobal Scoil Rosmini in Drumcondra. I completed vocational training in St. Joseph's in 2009. During that time I had work experience with Near FM in Dublin and with Ocean FM in Sligo.
I attend the National Learning Network in Manorhamilton, Co. Leitrim, and broadcast from the Bee Park Community Centre in Manorhamilton with the help of my good friend John Thornton.
I am a part time student in St. Angela's College, Sligo, a college of NUI Galway.
I have always been interested in music, particularly singing and playing traditional music. I sang with Charlie Landsborough when he visited St. Joseph's and with Charlie McGetigan in Sligo. I received a ''Children of Ireland'' award for entertaining in 2003 and made a guest appearance on Today FM's Breakfast Show with Mario Rosenstock.
I sing with my local church choirs in Rathcormac Co. Sligo, and have taken part in Sligo Musical Society productions. I have travelled all over Europe, to America (Space Camp in Alabama), Africa (Zambia and Zimbabwe) and to Bahrain to visit my aunt. I met Pope Francis in Rome in 2015 (but that's another story).
I enjoy country music and am delighted to be presenting on Irish Country Music Radio. I hope you enjoy my selection on ''Julian's Choice''. You can contact me by email juliancassellsmusic@gmail.com and I'll do my best to play your requests. Because I'm not able to see I can't do live requests, but I will play them later for you.
I look forward to hearing from you and do keep listening.
