Joe’s love of Country & Irish music comes from his background in the Stacks Mountain of North Kerry. He has produced and promoted albums of the music of his own place. Joe works in Limerick City and he has served a term as Mayor of his adopted city. During his Mayoralty, Joe welcomed President Bill & Hilary Clinton to Limerick.

Joe was involved with radio in Limerick for many years presenting Kingdom Corner and The Rambling House. Many people living in England & Europe listened to his programmes on Astra satellite. Joe is one of the organisers of the annual Irish Rambling House tour of traditional musicians, storytellers & singers to England. Over twenty entertainers feature in these tours and Irish exiles eagerly look forward to the annual visit.

Joe also produce music DVDs featuring Irish Traditional and Country entertainers. The Rambling Irish is the latest of these and its theme is songs of exile with songs and scenery from Ireland, England and Australia. The photo above shows Joe at the grave of Jack Riley, (the Man from Snowy River) in Victoria, Australia where he filmed some scenes for the DVD.

Joe is editor of the Lyreacrompane and District Journal, maintains the community website www.lyreacrompane.com/

and is secretary of the Dan Paddy Andy Festival, Ireland’s real rural festival, which is held annually in Lyreacrompane, North Kerry, over the August bank holiday.

His programme on Irish Country Music Radio features country music from Kerry and Limerick along with his personal favourites from the Irish and international scene.
